Mold is a serious health problem for many people. While it’s important to get it professionally treated, there are instances where it’s fine to treat mold on your own. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends cleaning mold on your own if it’s less than 10 square feet. This typically means you’ve caught mold early. If you’re lucky enough to catch mold growth in an incredibly early stage, you have some natural mold remedies to take advantage of. However, if you feel like you’d rather have a professional handle everything, Ram Restoration can help.
Baking Soda
Not only is baking soda good at removing odor, it’s also a great natural mold remedy. It’s perfectly safe for your family and pets to be around, so there’s less of a reason for everyone to leave the house during treatment. For this treatment, you’ll need to add a quarter of a tablespoon of baking soda to a spray bottle filled with water. Mix these together until the baking soda has dissolved completely. Next, spray the area affected with mold with the mixture and scrub with a scrub brush to remove the mold. Then you’ll need to wash the area with water to wash away the mold. After, you’ll need to spray the area with the mixture again to prevent further growth.
Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is something many people have in their medical cabinets, making it a great on-hand natural mold remedy. To start, you’ll need to make sure the hydrogen peroxide is at least a three percent solution. This helps in killing the mold growing in your home. From there, add the hydrogen peroxide to spray bottle. Spray the area until the entire area is covered and let it sit for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes, scrub the surface then wash everything away.
Vinegar
If you’re looking for a strong, natural mold remedy, vinegar is the way to go. Vinegar kills a lot of mold naturally. Add white vinegar to a spray bottle and don’t dilute it. Spray the moldy area and let it sit for an hour. Once the hour is completed, wash down the area and let the surface dry. If you’re looking to supercharge the solution, combine it with baking soda.
Bleach and Water Solution
A bleach and water solution is another way natural mold remedy. Dilute a small amount of bleach with water and spray the affected area. Again, you’ll want to scrub at the area to get rid of surface mold. From there, wash away the surface to rid the area of mold.
